Andre Pierre, who was a powerful Houngan, dedicated his body of work to the depiction of Vodou gods, their ceremonies and representative symbols. A friend of the filmmaker Maya Deren, who collected his work, Andre Pierre's paintings were exhibited at Documenta 14 (2017).
