DOUBLE SYMMETRICAL BLACKBIRD, ACOMA POLYCHROME OLLA by EMMA (EMMALITA) CHARLIE CHINO, ca. 1965 Condition: Excellent Mark: On bottom: "Acoma N.M." and "E. Chino". Description: The design is four repeats of a circular field with abstract bird design, symmetrical both vertically and horizontally. The bird head is in split profile. The triangular design dividing the sections is "stair step", with curved triangle and a pair of half-dots, similar to other Acoma pots we have. The pot sagged in the firing, and she adjusted the design to suit. Note: Made by Emma Chino, (1931-living in 2000). Emma is the daughter of potter Margaret Charlie Chino, and the daughter-in-law of the famous matriarch potter, Marie Z. Chino, (1907-1982). Marie Chino is listed as her teacher in Southern Pueblo Pottery, 2000 artists p. 88. 9"d x 7"h.
