Description
A RENAISSANCE REVIVAL LENZKIRCH GILT BRONZE CARTEL CLOCK, GERMAN, 1875-1880, designers of a rare Tiffany & Co. model cartel clock, the present clock sharing many elements, the profusion of undulating foliate and fruiting clusters centering a cushion form with Roman numeral enameled nickeled metal dial, at top a cherub and terminating in a horned grotesque mask issuing tasseled swag and flaming leaves, including a pendulum, the clockworks marked, "Lenzkirch, A.G. U.," and serial number 495037, verso two fine fretwork relief adjustable wall stops. 18 1/2" x 14 1/2" Provenance: Lifelong Collection of Clocks and Antiques, Navasota, Texas.
Condition
Some patina and rubbing revealing heavy copper alloy in bronze, some scratches, and expected surface wear, minor losses to dial, and overall in good to very good condition, wear commensurate with age.
