Description
A SÈVRES STYLE PAINTED PORCELAIN PORTRAIT TONDO OF MARIE DE MEDICI, MARKED, FRENCH, LATE 19TH CENTURY, of circular form and nicely painted on porcelain with a portrait of the French Queen Marie de Medici (1575-1642) second wife of Henry IV (1553-1610), resplendent in her jewels and high lace ruff with M H initials, over ermine draped and jeweled clothes, titled above "MARIE DE MEDICIS," verso spurious overglaze blue interlaced L's enclosing "DD," above a fleur-de-lys, framed. Diameter: 17 1/2" Provenance: Property belonging to Parmer and Aileen D. Freeman, Houston, Texas.
