Native American, southwestern United States, Four Corners region, Ancestral Puebloan (Anasazi), ca. 1075 to 1250 CE. A simple yet elegant black-on-white Anasazi pottery bowl created via the traditional coil and scrape technique. Several groups of vertical lines in descending length adorn the interior white-slipped walls, making for an attractive presentation. A lovely example of Anasazi artistry. Size: 4.375" W x 2" H (11.1 cm x 5.1 cm)
Provenance: private Orange County, California, USA collection acquired before 2000

Condition
Repaired from a couple of large pieces with restoration to large area of walls, with resurfacing and overpainting along new material and break lines. Abrasions and nicks to base, basin, and rim, and light fading to pigment within basin. Light earthen deposits throughout.
