Im Inventar der Sammlung Galaverni wie folgt beschrieben: "A female figure. It is an exceptional piece, both for the rarity of the human figure among the Mende, and for its dimension, keeping a high quality in the carving, an element not so frequent in pieces of this size.

The carving is detailed and very refined, with plastic solutions that reveal the hand of an important artist. The coiffure reminds the fine recurring in the Bundu helmet masks belonging to the female secret society of the same name.

The abdomen is decorated with a geometric pattern of scarifications; on her feet an incised design of boots inspired from an old European model, may point out a high social rank. Only another specimen, exhibited in 1993 at The Museum of African Art in New York, displays such a detail, though the shoes have a more recent Iook.

The small heart-shaped face stands out of a cylindrical neck resolved with superimposing rings. From the large, rounded shoulders the arms gently go down along the body without touching it with hands slightly diverging and the knees slightly bent giving the impression of being about to move. In profile, the prominent volumes of the figure, breasts, navel and buttocks are masterly balanced.

A brown, brilliant patina that covers the entire figure gives to it a soberly refined Iook."

Nach Hommel (op. cit.) gehörten die weiblichen Mende-Figuren der yassi-Gesellschaft und wurden minsereh genannt. Nach Hart (op. cit.) gehörten sie der njayei-Vereinigung und wurden kambei genannt.

Beide Quellen sehen ihre Verwendung im Umfeld der Initiation und Heilung. Sie verkörperten demnach Fruchtbarkeit und hätten schützende sowie therapeutische Kräfte. Als Ahnenfiguren die in geschützten Altären standen, waren sie materialisierte Verbindungen zu den Gründern der Lineage und dienten auch der Wahrsagerei.
