1700-1750 early ASHANTI AKAN Base Drum from Slave Trade Period
Drum With Hide Drumhead and Face Decoration AFRICAN SLAVE TRIBAL Collection
Purchased from African item collector in 1950 as being a drum from the Slave Trade.

African carved wooden drum with hide drumhead. One side of the drum is decorated with a human face and the rest of the drum is unadorned.
The drum has a center post and is designed to use tilted on its side and lift drum for transfer of sound.
Very Deep Base sound.
