Description
**First Time At Auction**
Native American/First Nations, made in Hazelton, British Columbia, ca. mid 20th century CE. A charming miniature yellow cedar box, cleverly made of five fitted pieces of wood in homage to indigenous bentwood boxes from centuries past. A large lid fits into the rim of the vessel. The sides are decorated with red and black motifs in classic Pacific Northwest style, featuring a bear with its young and a bird. On the underside, stamped red letters declare, "Made by Tse-Kya Bent Box Designs New Hazelton, B. C. Canada Design by W. K. Joseph". A wonderful vintate item, as this company no longer exists. Size: 5.1" L x 8.9" W x 5.625" H (13 cm x 22.6 cm x 14.3 cm)

Condition
Light wear commensurate with age including what looks like some discoloration from water on the top of the lid. Stamped on underside as described above. Old collection label is also on the underside.
