William Henry Harrison Presidential Campaign Teapot
c. 1840 Presidential Campaign William Henry Harrison Political Ceramic Teapot, Extremely Fine.
This colorful William H. Harrison 1840 Presidential Campaign Teapot measures about 10" wide, including its handle and spout, and is 6.75" tall including the lid at top. Being a soft paste ceramic Teapot in his famous "Log Cabin" design pattern. The Harrison homestead with log cabin & cider barrel appear on each side. Portraits of "Maj. Gen. W. H. Harrison" appear on opposite shoulders, as well as opposite sides of the lid, for a total of four. Impressed mark of maker "Adams" on the bottom. There are four small hidden chips on the interior lip on which the lid rests and three tiny chips around the edge of the lid. There are two typical cracks in the bottom part of the handle which remains solid, along with a shallow "glazing" chip. The knob on the lid's top was snapped off and now intact being glued back. These minor defects are fairly standard for this piece of utilitarian ware that was actually used. The red colors remain vivid and the illustrations sharp and clear, making this a nice example for display.
