Description
This lot consists of a framed oil painting on board, done in the Cubo-Futurist style of Aleksandra Ekster (Russian, 1882-1949). A hand-painted inscription at lower left reads, "A. Ekster". Image depicts three dancing figures within an explosion of color and contrast. A vibrant and inspiring addition to any modern art collection. This framed piece measures approximately 24" x 19". Image sight approximately 16" x 11".
Aleksandra Ekster (Russian, 1882-1949) was a painter, designer, and member of the Russian avant-garde scene. Ekster was perhaps the most experimental female artist of the avant-garde. She freely drew inspiration from other cultures and sources in order to nurture her own, singular style. She held a variety of positions in her life, from working in rural craft co-ops in peasant communities, to acting as a lead stage and costume designer for many ballets and theatres of the day.
