**First Time At Auction**
Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. An intriguing vessel, hand-built from pottery, depicting a seated individual with cranial and bodily deformities like an elongated head, a pinched face, and rounded hump along the back. Incised rectangular bars across the face are perhaps indicative of ritual scarification marks, and red pigment adorns the shoulders and spout. Size: 5.125" W x 6.875" H (13 cm x 17.5 cm)
Provenance: private Stagecoach, Nevada, USA collection; acquired from 1985 to present from galleries such as Arte Primitivo, Art For Eternity, Butterfields and Riverbend Gallery
