Colima red pottery seated shaman, Proto-Classic, 200 BC - AD 250, modeled as a seated figure drinking from a cup, wearing a hat with a shaman's horn, drinking a ritual and probably hallucinogenic brew, wearing a shaman's shoulder bag, seated propped up on his short legs, root marks and manganese accretions on the surface from millenia of burial in a shaft tomb, in West Mexico, 15.5"h x 14"w. Provenance: from the collection of Maria Manetti Shrem and Jan Shrem, retains old Christie's label.
