A very bold and striking carved wooden fetish with inset glass eyes surrounded by abrus seeds and kaolin clay , a red painted anthropomorphic design on the chest, red paint on the lips and magic material embedded into the arm pit areas. The sculpture has a well handled torso and eroded bottom that may have been stuck in the ground. The figure measures 29 inches tall and will not stand on its own. Mumuye peoples, Nigeria, Africa. Provenance: Ex Irwin Cernic collection, NYC, USA.
