The black lacquered Zushi Shrine with incised peony decorated copper mounts having a domed top with raised edges. The hinged doors open to reveal a standing gilt carved wood Kannon Busatsu with gilt metal tiara, holding in upraised hand a bottle with floral sprig. Standing on a lotus base with gallery rail and tiered stand.Â
Height: 17 inches.
Weight: 3 1/4 lbs.
Condition: Only a single knob on front, missing the hasp. Some lacquer loss to front lower edge of stand and scattered minor lacquer loss on lower section of reverse of shrine.
