Description
A JAPANESE MIMIKUCHI FLYING HANDLE BRONZE VASE, SIGNED, MEIJI PERIOD (1868-1912), with a short cylindrical neck flaring to a lozenge form flattened rim, enclosing chased scrolling clouds and continuing to tapering scrolled handles, flanking a bulbous body and sides centering fan shaped reserves, cast in deep relief and framing a herd of cranes amidst stylized groundwork interspersed with leafy foliage before distant mountain peeks, reversing to blossoming carnations and fluttering butterflies, above a circular socle raised on a conforming foot with lappet paneled banding, underside centering impressed character marks signature. Height: 9.75" Width: 13.25" Depth: 8.25"
Condition
Very good condition for an item of this age use and materials including but not limited to some light surface marks and tiny scratches scattered throughout, areas of buildup in crevices, might have originally been patinated.
