DESCRIPTION: Currier & Ives hand-colored lithograph titled "The Star Spangled Banner". No. 486. Published Currier & Ives, 152 Nassau Street, New York. Circa 1870. Features Lady Liberty crowned with an American crest holding the American flag as she points forward to victory with the fires from battle burning in the distance -- presumably the defense of Fort McHenry by American forces during the British attack on September 13, 1814 (in the War of 1812) that inspired Francis Scott Key to write The Star Spangled Banner. Matted in period grain painted wood frame. MEASUREMENTS: Sight 13" x 9". Overall with frame 17-5/8" x 14-5/8". CONDITION: Toning with spots of discoloration or water damage. Frame with wear.
