Chinese Ming Dynasty Period, Xuande blue and white Dragon porcelain bowl. Thick potted, shallow body, with a flaring opening lip, raised on round slightly raised footing, rounded vessel gently tapering to open wide geometric pattern to ten panel flori shape form. All reserved hand painted ornamentations are rendered in clean white underglaze base color which contrast against the cobalt blue fine color. Each panel exterior adorned with round medallion describe of five claws imperial dragon soaring amidst flames and vapors, with face and upper right appendage outstretched toward the heavens. Vigorous dragons chasing flaming pearl amidst flames against cobalt blue scrolling clouds diaper. The backdrop depicts swirling wind and fire painted atop a beautiful white underglaze. Geometric and auspicious pattern decorated on the foot base rim. Dragon is the symbol of the Emperor, the Son of Heaven, eternity, Yang and Yin, male vigor and fecundity, the Li-Shui wave pattern which is known to be the abode of dragons. The foot rim reveals the cut edges during the making process, and the base left unglazed with grayish creme-brown ground and dark spots of firing marks. This inadvertently gave texture, energy, and shading to the design. The color is balanced, elegant and exquisite. The clay is very fine, with a brilliant glaze finish that was applied by a meticulous, the shape is uniformly proportioned.

Mark on under base, a vertical six underglaze blue script characters reign mark, enclosed within double fine rings, Xuande Reign Period of Great Ming Dynasty.
