Chinese Ming Dynasty, Jiajing blue and white peony medallion jar. The blue and white have having thick potted body, sturdily potted in a bulbous body, gently tapered on shoulder toward prominent straight neck with opening, raised on small round flat base. All reserved hand painted ornamentations are rendered in clean white underglaze base color which contrast against the cobalt blue fine color. The main body adorned with round medallion describe of peony flowers blooms interspersed with foliage beside scrolling cumulus ruyi clouds, enclosed and banded with double fine blue rings lines. The shoulder and the for base rim decorated with auspicious pattern, enclosed with single fine blue ring line, and the upper neck decorated with double fine blue rings lines. The Peony is mainly known for representing ideas and values like: Honor, especially for people who are bringing honor to their entire family through success, Wealth and riches, Romance and romantic love, with a particular focus on love between two strangers, Beauty in all forms. It symbolizes wealth and honor in the sense of high rank, having an official position, or high social status. The porcelain displays a subtle sheen as the light ricochets across the finely glazed exterior. The underside unglazed, revealed the pale-creme ground and dark grayish brown spotted firing marks and edge-cut foot rim. The clay is very fine, with a brilliant glaze finish that was applied by a meticulous, the shape is uniformly proportioned.
