ALS. One page handwritten bifolium. From Samuel Colt and Elisha Colt, written in Elisha's hand, Hartford, CT, to Armand Soubie, New Orleans, LA, dated March 25, 1832. Elisha Colt was the attorney and banker for his cousin, Samuel Colt. The letter, written in regards to a shipment of revolvers, reads "Dear Sir, I have received your favors of the 10' x 12' Instant--I shall send you by expre[s]s to New York & from thence by first Steamer to N.O.--One box containing 24 Navy Pistols & appendages--The small pistols you order are those, I suppose, which I wrote you we intended to make,--We have not made any yet, and it will be some months before they are ready--We have the ordinary sizes of 4, 5, $ 6 inch as usual--I have inquired of the expre[s]s Co in New York respecting the box No. 1. sent you in February, containing small pistols, but have not yet recd and reply--they should have forwarded together, & you ought to have recd them with the box No 2,--I shall hear tomorrow probably & will immediately write to you--I enclose the invoice for the 24 Navy now sent , & will send you the Bill of Lading or expre[s]s Co receipt for the box as soon as I can get it from New York--Yours Respectfully Samuel Colt/Elisha Colt atty." Integral blank, docketed on verso. 10" H x 7 7/8" W. Note: Armand Soubie (fl. 1852-1900) was a New Orleans arms dealer and real estate agent prior to the Civil War. He had his shop from the late 1830s until the beginning of the Civil War. It was located on Chartres Street and bought, sold, and manufactured guns and accessories. His business partner in real estate was Joseph Parker (1833-1860). Between Soubie, Parker, and another partner, A.C. Gentilly, they owned a large amount of the French Quarter real estate.

Overall good condition with foxing. 1 1/2" x 1 3/8" hole to integral blank, caused by removal of stamp.
