Pre-Columbian, El Salvador, Maya, Copador, ca. 550 to 900 CE. A polychrome vessel presenting an attractive form with a dramatically corseted shoulder. The exterior walls are decorated with 3 seated scribes and an energetic canine. Above these figures are 18 petite glyphoids delineated in black. The rim is painted with deep red band as is characteristic of Maya Copador pottery. Copador pottery was manufactured at Copan and traded widely throughout the southern Maya region. This is a strong example, replete with intriguing iconography. Size: 5.625" in diameter x 3.375" H (14.3 cm x 8.6 cm)
