Item Details
Description
**Originally Listed At $600**

Pre-Columbian, Peru, Moche II, ca. 300 to 400 CE. A molded, fine line stirrup vessel with an interesting form - its body divided into six distinct units by raised lines that radiate from the center of the vessel, below the squat stirrup handle, to a wide, round base, giving the vessel a gourd-like appearance. Each unit is painted with the same motif - a stepped pyramid form within a diamond, made using finely brushed white pigment on a very dark red-brown base. The decorated and molded pottery style of the Moche was created by artists who worked for the elites in the society and was used to communicate their wealth and position. Size: 5.45" W x 8.45" H (13.8 cm x 21.5 cm)

Provenance: ex-private Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA collection
