**First Time At Auction**
East Asia, China, Neolithic Period, ca. 3000 to 2000 BCE. A large hand-made terracotta jar with a flat base, rotund body, rolled shoulders which gradually taper to a narrowed neck, a flared rim, and a single applied loop handle connecting rim to shoulder. Two small rectangular protrusions extend from the midpoint of the body, and a pinched nubbin-shaped adornment sits just underneath the rim. The shoulders, neckline, and handle are all decorated in zigzag, linear, and crosshatch motifs, all comprised from bars of individual miniscule depressions. Size: 5.75" H (14.6 cm).

Repair to area of rim, and restoration to area of body. Age-commensurate surface wear, small chips and losses to rim, foot, handle, and body, small losses to surface designs, with earthen deposits throughout.
