Description
DESCRIPTION: A French Medaille d'or figural gilt bronze mantel clock by Honore Pons. The dial is set within an ormolu case which is modelled as a grassy mound, upon which sits the figure of a young man holding a book in regal costume. The movement was designed by Pierre-César Honoré Pons, a Parisian clockmaker who set up shop in 1803 and is generally recognized as being most active between the years of 1807-1846. Movement stamped on back, A.M. Medaille D'Or Pons. 1827 #1217.Â
