A 19th century French Empire Period Bronze and Marble mantel clock by Honore Pons, Paris. 8-day time and strike movement with silk thread suspension and porcelain dial with Roman numerals and Gilded Bronze bezel, marked with the retailer's name and address "B. Marchand, Richelieu No. 59". Rouge marble case surmounted by a Bronze figure of the Greek Poet Homer seated holding a Gilded lyre on a stepped base with Gilded Bronze appliques with central mask and foliate detail and moldings on flattened bun feet. Some surface wear, several older glued repairs with the marble, running momentarily when cataloged. 30 3/4" high. ESTIMATE $2,000-3,000
