Wilhelm Kaufmann (1895-1975) Austrian. "The Laundry Room", Oil on Canvas, Signed, 39.5" x 31.75". Notes: At only 16 years of age, Kaufmann was selected to join the Imperial Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. Having been awarded the Golden Cross of Merit during the First World War whilst on the Russian Albanian Front, he returned to art and was imposed with a professional ban which subjected him to years working in a factory. He finally returned to paining and became a Professor and completed many works for the Austrian state as well as many private commissions.
