Description

Massive Vellum glaze plaque showing boats in a harbor (most likely Venice) done in 1935 by Fred Rothenbusch. Signed by the artist lower left and marked with the Rookwood logo, date and size on the back. The 16 by 14 inch tiles are the largest normally produced at Rookwood and they are only done by Rothenbusch, Diers or Hurley in the late 1920’s to mid 1930’s. Size is 16 by 14 inches and the tile is uncrazed with strong color. The frame is 18 1/2 by 16 1/2 inches and seems newer and is probably not original.
