Description
An F. O. Dewey "07" wire bottom mill lantern. It has a standard Dewey brass tag on the vent area. Note the hole in the lid latch (which is lined up right next to a vertical and not evenly spaced between the verticals. This model has a wire bottom and a drop-in pot. The globe retaining spring and plate are stuck up very high in the dome. The globe is a 6" barrel and not marked. The pot has the unusual burner with a "swipe" arm to trim the wick. I can't remember the patent holder's name on the swipe arm. Mill lanterns were locked when in use to prevent watchmen from lighting up smokes while on duty. The pot and globe are worth 100.
