This is the complete 5-volume (622, 687, 638, 697 & 563 pages) 1843 Firmin Didot Frères publication of "Oeuvres Complètes de M. Le Vicomte de Chateaubriand". The covers (6.75" x 10.375"), leather spines with four raised bands, gilt lettering, marbled paper surfaced boards, are in good overall condition, with the notable exception of chipping, with lost material, to the top of Volume 5's spine (see photo). There are shallow edge and surface scuffs elsewhere, but, none so prominent. The spines are straight and securely attached to the inside. The gilt lettering is clearly legible. The insides are good overall, but with tanning to most pages and with significant recurrent foxing. All the text is clearly legible. There are a number of corner creases. Most pages have none. I've found no page tears. If there are tears, they're not prominent. There are no stamps or other attachments. I've found some pencil notations to the end pages, but none to the text pages, and no indelible marks of any kind to any pages. This is a complete set with a number of mostly minor and anticipated flaws.
