British and Foreign Bible Society, London, 1804. 8vo, contemporary speckled calf. First edition. One of 2000 copies printed, with text in English and Mohawk on facing pages. It is also noted as the first work of the bible published by the British and Foreign Bible Society. "The translator was a young educated Mohawk, named Teyoninhokarawen, commonly called John Norton"--Sabin 49846; Pilling, Iroquian, page 130; D&M 6797; Siebert Sale 85.

Condition Very good. Very little age toning. Torn at edges, backstrip label chipped; browning at edges of title; ex-library, with markings on the front pastedown and a bookplate on the front free endpaper.
