Straordinaria edizione del Nuovo Testamento stampata in greco. L’opera è conosciuta col nome di "O mirificam", perché con queste parole comincia la dedica a Francesco I. Secondo Renouard questa seconda edizione è più rara e ricercata della prima. Interamente incisa in greco con gli splendidi piccoli caratteri detti “Grecs du roi”, incisi da Claude Garamond per la famiglia Estienne, l’opera è ornata con la marca del ‘basilico’ sui Frontespizi, che evoca la qualità di stampatore del re per il Greco di Robert Estienne, dalla marca con l'olivo alla fine del secondo volume, ed è illustrata con testatine, finalini e iniziali decorate a grottesche. Il primo volume contiene i Vangeli, il secondo le Epistole Paoline, le Epistole Cattoliche e l'Apocalisse. Il testo segue in parte quello del poliglotta di Alcala de Henares, in parte quello della quinta edizione di Erasmo. Si tratta idel primo Nuovo Testamento a stampa in greco dotato di apparato critico in senso moderno, cioè con l’indicazione delle varianti tramite simboli tipografici. I caratteri “Grecs du roi” furono incisi da C. Garmonso tra il 1541 e il 1550. Arthur Tilley definisce i libri stampati dagli Estienne “among the most finished specimens of typography that exist.” L'opera reca al colophon la seguente iscrizione: “excudebat b stefanus tipographus regius lutetiae M.D.XLIX. III. Extraordinary edition of the New Testament printed in Greek. The work is known as "O mirificam", because with these words the dedication to Francis I begins. According to Renouard, this second edition is rarer and more sought after than the first. Entirely engraved in Greek with the splendid small types called "Grecs du roi", engraved by Claude Garamond for the Estienne family, the work is adorned with the device of 'basil' on the title pages, which evokes the quality of the King's printer for the Greek language by Robert Estienne, with the device with an olive tree at the end of the second volume, and is illustrated with grotesque-decorated Head-pieces and Tail-pieces, and Initials. The first volume contains the Gospels, the second the Pauline Epistles, the Catholic Epistles and the Apocalypse. The text follows in part that of the polyglot of Alcala de Henares, in part that of the fifth edition of Erasmus. This is the first New Testament printed in Greek with a critical apparatus in the modern sense, that is, with the indication of the variants through typographic symbols. The characters "Grecs du roi" were engraved by C. Garmonso between 1541 and 1550. Arthur Tilley defines the books printed by the Estienne "among the most finished specimens of typography that exist."
