Ancient Near East, Luristan or other cultural area around the Caspian Sea, ca. 1200 to 800 BCE. A lengthy leaf-shaped bronze spear point with angular shoulders, cast in a single piece. A prominent midrib extends into a long shank, which is separated from a tubular tang by a small ring molding. The tang ends in a bent, button terminal. Covered in thick layers of green and brown patina, this is a gorgeous example! Size: 10" L (25.4 cm).
Provenance: private New York, New York, USA collection; ex-private S. K. collection, Bavaria, Germany, acquired in the 1960s

Condition
Age-commensurate surface wear, slight bending to overall form, with minor nicks to tip, blade edges, and tang, otherwise intact and very good. Nice earthen deposits as well as green and brown patina throughout.
