Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 3rd to 4th century CE. A free-blown, near-transparent drinking cup of an incredibly thin composition and a pale green hue. The vessel is defined by a planar base and slightly-rough pontil scar, tall walls with four uneven indentations, a deep interior cavity, and a thin flared rim. Thick areas of fiery rainbow-hued iridescence accentuate the interior and exterior surfaces with hues of citrine, amethyst, emerald, ruby and sapphire. A fragile yet elegant example of fine Roman glass-blowing artistry! Size: 2.375" W x 4.55" H (6 cm x 11.6 cm).

Condition
Surface wear and abrasions commensurate with age, light roughness to rim, walls, and base, with very minor nicks to rim, otherwise intact and excellent. Nice earthen deposits as well as rainbow iridescence throughout. Old inventory label on base.
