Book Details: This single antique volume of two individual books is bound in leather with a gilt-lettered leather spine label and marbled paper covered boards.

This volume contains a theological treatise initially published without attribution and the first printing of a second treatise written in response to the first.

This edition of "A Plain Account of the Nature and End of the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper" was written by Benjamin Hoadly was printed in 1735. Bound with this controversial publication is a first printing of "An Answer to Book Entitled A Plain Account of the Nature and End of the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper in a Letter to the Author" published in 1736 written by Richard Warren.

Benjamin Hoadly (14 November 1676 – 17 April 1761) was an English clergyman, who was successively Bishop of Bangor, of Hereford, of Salisbury, and finally of Winchester. He is best known as the initiator of the Bangorian Controversy, a theological argument within the Church of England in the early 18th century, with strong political overtones.

Dr. Richard Warren (1681–1748), archdeacon of Suffolk and rector of Cavendish from September 1745 to January 1748.
Condition / Notes: This antique volume containing two theological treatises shows well bound in leather with marbled paper covered boards.

This book shows some age/wear externally concentrated at the extremities, including a detached and present front board. The binding is secure and the pages are bright and clean with light scattered foxing.
