Description
1689 1st ed Glorious Revolution Allegiance James II England William of Orange

Samuel Masters was a relatively unknown 17th-century English preacher. He is exclusively remembered for his pamphlet regarding the effects of the Glorious Revolution, ‘The Case of Allegiance’. In 1688, James II was overthrown as the King of England by William III of Orange – an event that would later become known as the Glorious Revolution.

This short pamphlet discusses, as Masters himself states, false principles about the English government, attempts at resolving the difficulties of the Revolution, and ways to prove that the Revolution was consistent with obligations of good conscience.
