Antique German Folk Art pitcher. Thick, salt glazed redware clay. Vivid yellow glaze, slipware decorations, with blue flower, brown and green. Gerstungen, on the River Werra in Thuringia, Germany, made during mid to late 19th century. Pottery production in the town dates back to the 16th century, and this jug is a characteristic example of the specific type of earthenware produced in the region.
