Book Details: This piece is housed in a decorative gold, black and white slipcase featuring an illustrated front board and floral-themed interior that opens with four boards. This antique volume is comprised of 45 tissue-guarded black and white plates from the commemorative work of the 50th anniversary of the rule of the Austrian Emperor Franz Joseph I. Each tissue-guard shows a small blurb of the corresponding image of the Kaiser. The work also features a laid-in piece of ephemera with four original signatures entitled "Elismero Oklevel."

Franz Joseph I or Francis Joseph I (18 August 1830 - 21 November 1916) was Emperor of Austria and King of Hungary, King of Bohemia and monarch of many other states of the Austro-Hungarian Empire from 2 December 1848 until his death on 21 November 1916. From 1 May 1850 to 24 August 1866 he was also President of the German Confederation. Franz Joseph I was the longest-reigning Emperor of Austria and King of Hungary, as well as the third longest-reigning monarch of any country in European history, after Louis XIV of France and Johann II of Liechtenstein.

Condition / Notes: This antique volume shows well with some mild to moderate age to the case, including rubbing, particularly to the creases and exterior hinges.The exterior hinges are partially cracked. The plates show well with some light age toning and occasional small tears to the tissue-guard. The images are bright and clean.
