Ancient Greece, Mycenaean, Late Helladic III, ca. late 14th to 13th century BCE. A lovely wheel-thrown pottery stirrup jar of a classic Mycenaean form with a bulbous body, a slight concave foot, conjoined twin handles, and a tubular spout with a flared rim. The vessel is comprised of buff clay with buff slip and hand-painted concentric bands in a dark brown or black hue which is repeated around the spout, handles, and base. A finely-executed example of Mycenaean craftsmanship! Size: 5" W x 3.375" H (12.7 cm x 8.6 cm).

Condition
Repair to handle with some earthen stabilization material around break lines. Minor nicks to base, body, handles, and spout, with fading and chips to areas of pigmentation, and some light encrustations. Nice earthen deposits and traces of pigmentation throughout.
