Description
Ancient Greece, Mycenaean, ca. 1500 BCE. A wheel-made pottery stirrup jar of a classic Mycenaean form with a bulbous body, round foot, conjoined twin handles, and a side spout. The vessel is comprised of buff clay with hand painted encircling bands in hues of russet red-brown and a concentric circular pattern on the top pendant between the handles. An extremely fine example from approximately 1500 BCE, when Mycenae was at its peak of influence! Size: 4.25" in diameter x 4.75" H (10.8 cm x 12.1 cm)
