Description
Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, Chorrera culture, ca. 9th to 4th century BCE. A large, round spouted jar made from pottery. It is decorated with an incised diamond pattern and the strapped handle is continued in the painted and incised design around the body of the jar. A short spout with flared rim rises from the round, flat disc that forms the top. Brown and red slip make the vessel colorful. Size: 8.75" W x 8" H (22.2 cm x 20.3 cm)
Provenance: Ex-Private Atlanta, GA collection, ex Kramer collection acquired 1960 to 1980
