Description

18th century Japanese sword iron tsuba with silver and copper inlays depicting cherry blossoms, flower buds, pine needles, leaves and mushrooms with stems. Excellent piece, delicate design in Japanese taste, fine detailing, gilding, very pleasant feel of age. Signed KYUKAZU and JIKU (alternative reading is Tsuguhisa) on inlaid silver plaques - these are probably signatures of maker (or makers) of the tsuba. Height 3 1/16 inches.
