19th century or earlier unsigned iron Japanese sword tsuba with decoration of two geese descending under a moon partially obscured by the clouds on the front, and reeds on the back. The subject may represent one of the Eight Views of Lake Biwa. Very good piece with copper inlays and traces of gilding on the clouds and grasses, good detailing, nice patina. Height 3 3/8 inches.
