19th century or earlier signed sentoku (copper alloy with zinc, lead and tin) floriform Japanese sword tsuba inlaid in various metals with an owl seated on one of the rice sheafs by bamboo grass and under a crescent moon by striated clouds with design continuing on the back. Excellent quality detailed work - see the guilding of the eyes, talons, rope holding sheafs together and grass leaves, the moon is inlaid with silver. Overall in great condition, signed Yasutoshi on the front. Height 2 7/16 inches.
