Description
A wonderful Greek terracotta figure of a woman, c. 3rd - 2nd Century BC, draped in chiton and himation, her face nicely detailed and her hair styled back in tight rows into a coiled plait at the nape of her neck. She stands contrapposto with left hand on hip and right arm at side. At the back of her shoulders is what appears to have been perhaps a wide-brimmed hat. Traces of white slip and fade paint beneath mineral deposits. H: 8 3/4 in (22.3 cm). Ex collection of Lawrence Buchanan and Dr. Enrique von Kiguel, formed throughout the 1970's-80's.
