Ancient Greek Marble Head Hellenistic Greek, 3rd – 2nd century B.C.E. Carved with delicate lips and recessed eyes, once holding inlays and the back is unfinished and angular so as to be set in with different colored stone for the hair and crown. The marble is very fine, with even, small grains and a sugary appearance.Ancient drill hole in neck for attachment to body. Size 3-1/8 inches H. head only. (4-5/8 inches custom mounted) Condition: lower part of the nose broken. The upper part of the head is mitered to receive inlay.
