Pre-Columbian, northern Peru, late Moche to early Sican / Lambayeque, ca. 800 to 900 CE. Rare to find as this is right at the end of Moche culture beginning of the Sican. Pottery stirrup vessel in the guise of Ai Apec - Moche underworld god and all around nasty character (Ai Apec became known as Nylamp in the Sican culture) - with fanged teeth, holding a bird in each hand, animal headdress and textured net pattern cloak, small monkey on chimney spout. A very fine vessel! Size: 8.375" H (21.3 cm)
