Description
**Originally Listed At $200**
Eastern Europe, Russia, ca. 19th century CE. An attractive three-panel brass traveling icon showing a number of scenes from the life of Jesus Christ. The imagery in the central panel depicts the Virgin Mary as the Mother of God - "Joy of All Who Sorrow" - along with scenes of Jesus riding into Jerusalem, the Holy Trinity, and a Baptismal font. The top area portrays a pair of cherubs flanking the Holy Trinity, with a faded image of God the Father floating above them. Areas of applied blue and white enameled inlays decorate the otherwise gold-toned scenes, with some areas exhibiting a light-orange color as a result of age. Size (panels open): 4.3" W x 3.75" H (10.9 cm x 9.5 cm).
Provenance: private Orange County, California, USA collection
All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.
A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids.
