Description
East Asia, China, Warring States Period, ca. 475 to 221 BCE. A thin cast bronze pole axe with two blades perpendicular to each other and narrow, low ridges down the center of each blade. This weapon was made during a time of great flux in Chinese society, when kingdoms and warlords traded land constantly. However, by this time period, iron and steel had replaced bronze as the material for making true weapons. Bronze weaponry was made for the grave, to signify the wealth and fighting prowess of the dead. Size: 10.5" W x 5.05" H (26.7 cm x 12.8 cm); 6.75" H (17.1 cm) on included custom stand.
