Description
East Asia, China, Warring States period, ca. 475 to 221 BCE. An attractive, handbuilt storage vessel of a globular form comprised of terracotta with a grey finish, the exterior walls neatly ribbed, the interior smooth - presenting a lovely silhouette with elegantly curved walls and shoulders resolving to a short neck and flat rim as well as twin bifurcated loop handles impressed with diagonal striated frets for further decoration. A special example from this very early historical era. Size: 6.875" in diameter x 5.625" H (17.5 cm x 14.3 cm)

Condition
Tiny chips to rim and peripheries of base. One pronounced divot to exterior wall and a few other smaller ones - probably occured during the process of creation. Expected surface wear with earthen deposits commensurate with age. Nice firing clouds.
