Description
Robert E. Lee Partly Printed Document Signed on Verso. Two pages, 8" x 10"; Fort Hamilton; June 29, 1844. Robert E. Lee signs a voucher for payment of $18.32 for "1500 lbs of ground feed... freight of same... passage of man in charge of same / grease for wagon." Lee signs on verso adding his rank, "R E Lee / Capt Engrs" to certify that he has received listed goods to be used for repairs of Fort Hudson. Accompanied by the original filing slip. Lee served at Fort Hamilton (in New York) in the Army Corps of Engineers from 1841 to 1846.
Condition:Â Gently toned, with some wear at folds. Tiny separations occurring at folds at margins. Document is sealed in Mylar (which can be removed). Filing slip has heavy soiling, small tears.
