This is a large folio, relatively uncommon edition of Johnson’s atlas is in excellent condition, with all maps and text present. There are 106 pages of maps – many maps being double-page. There are two double page World maps (hemispherical and Mercator’s projection), plus maps of continents, US, all States and territories, Canada, key countries globally, etc. There are double page maps of Texas, New York, Iowa, Minnesota, Ohio, Illinois, Nebraska/Kansas, etc. Also, included are double page maps of New York City, Boston and Philadelphia. It also contains the Civil War "Map of the Vicinity of Richmond and Peninsular Campaign in Virginia. The maps feature a lacey border. There are ten physical maps by Prof. A Guyot, including an uncommon length of rivers and height of mountains chart for each continent, global temperature, rain fall, forests, ocean currents, etc. A great double-page "New Chart of National Emblems," (flags) is also shown. It comes with "Treatise on Physical Geography" by Prof. A. Guyot. Hardbound in cloth with embossed gilt on cover and spine.

Excellent maps. Nearly fine/mint condition maps which is rarely seen in these atlases. All maps and text are present. Hardly any toning, no splits, soiling. The atlas is hardbound in cloth with embossed gilt on cover and spine. Only modest rubbing of the covers is noted. Colored maps.
